Syrian Touches - J.R

With the aim of supporting Syrian women artisans, Souq Fann, in collaboration with Syria Livelihoods Program (SLP), funded by USAID, trained and mentored women artisans in Malikiyah City in Northeast Syria. 

Through the training, these women produced intricate designs through which they were able to create a path to a sustainable income and improved livelihood conditions. 

These products are a reflection of the hard work and dedication that these women artisans have put into their craft, although they were faced with many challenges including not having money to buy materials or equipment, combined with the horrors of the conflict, they have endured, preserved, and made sure that they reflected that in their products. Out of those ambitions, the "Syrian Touches" brand was born to be a mark of resilience and perseverance of these women. 

Through Syrian Touches, we present you with handicrafts made by Syrian women who have turned their hardships into opportunities and their tribulations into triumphs."

About the Store

One of the "Syrian Touches" ladies is a housewife and a craftswoman in spinning and weaving. Her passion for sewing children's clothes stemmed from her inspiration to design distinctive clothing for her children.

This creative woman chose this craft primarily because of her love for it, because it does not require considerable capital or help from anyone, and is convenient for her as a housewife. In her craft, she uses yarn of all styles and colors, as it is the most widespread material in the market and is easy to obtain. Working on a single piece takes several hours and may extend to a day or more, depending on the type and size of the piece.

This craftswoman faced great challenges when she began in this field, in creatively expressing her opinion and convincing others of her product ideas. However, this did not stop her from continuing her journey, as she still aspires to develop herself and learn new techniques in wool-making in order to sew more distinctive products.
