Syrian Touches - H.S

With the aim of supporting Syrian women artisans, Souq Fann, in collaboration with Syria Livelihoods Program (SLP), funded by USAID, trained and mentored women artisans in Malikiyah City in Northeast Syria. 

Through the training, these women produced intricate designs through which they were able to create a path to a sustainable income and improved livelihood conditions. 

These products are a reflection of the hard work and dedication that these women artisans have put into their craft, although they were faced with many challenges including not having money to buy materials or equipment, combined with the horrors of the conflict, they have endured, preserved, and made sure that they reflected that in their products. Out of those ambitions, the "Syrian Touches" brand was born to be a mark of resilience and perseverance of these women. 

Through Syrian Touches, we present you with handicrafts made by Syrian women who have turned their hardships into opportunities and their tribulations into triumphs."

About the Store

A mother of five children, who took up macramé weaving as her unique craft. Her passion for plants led her to begin decorating her home with woven plant hangers. The craft, originally learned from her mother, has developed very well over time, and her products have diversified to include baskets and kitchen accessories.

This lady uses macramé, cotton, nylon, and other fabrics to make plant hangers in geometric shapes of all sizes. In addition, she creates kitchen baskets and suspended containers designed to hang various items and necessities. She has resorted to recycling some things in her home to make these products, and her work takes long hours - sometimes days - of hard and continuous work.

Thanks to the encouragement of family and friends, this craftswoman was able to overcome the difficulties she faced and continue her work with confidence and enthusiasm. She aspires to make this craft a source of income with which she can support her family through the difficult circumstances they are going through in her beloved country, Syria.
