Qahwat Omi Story

The brand Qahwat Omi was established in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in 2016 by the entrepreneur Noor Hashem. Growing up, Noor was surrounded by Palestinian embroidery and her mother’s affinity for cross-stitching. Her mother kept her patterns in a drawer, hoping that one day Noor could repurpose them. They remained unused for some time, until, one day, it popped into her mind to combine these traditional designs with another traditional item: the mug. It’s the first thing most people use every morning in the comfort of their own homes. The rest fell into place. The name Qahwat Omi came from Mahmood Darwish’s poem إلى أمي, representing Noor’s homeland, heritage, and that special coffee cup of our mothers. In her own words, she says, “I aim to tell the story of our heritage to the whole world… It’s not just a design on a mug, it’s the heritage passed on from grandmothers to mothers to daughters.”
Qahwat Omi offers customizable designs so that the product is one-of-a-kind to you. She likes to think outside of the box and combine traditional elements with non-traditional colors.
